| Description | GAJAMUKHA : The story of Elephant Headed Lord Ganesha. Musical Temple Dance Ballet of India (O.S.Arun and live orchestra from Chennai) Venue: Helms Fine Arts Center St.Stephens School Austin, TX Lord Ganesha, the elephant-faced Hindu deity, always worshipped at the beginning of any task, is regarded as the embodiment of auspiciousness and remover of obstacles. Through the ballet, we explore the power and glory of the Lord in all his infinite forms through the splendor of spiritual offering through dance and music. The choreography showcases the three classical dance styles from the theater traditions of India (along with folk and contemporary dances) in a seamless fusion to present the mythological stories of Gajamukha. The choreography integrates the lyrical and subtle Mohini Attam - dance of the enchantress from the State of Kerala; the flamboyant and versatile Kutchipudi from State of Andra Pradesh; and the graceful and highly sophisticated Bharatha Natyam from State of Tamil Nadu.The unique and exceptional aspect of this production is involvement of five renowned musicians, Padmavibushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Padmavibushan Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman, Bhagavatulu Seetharama Sharma, Ganesh (Ganesh Kumaresh), and Rajhesh Vaidhya. Renowned scholar Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao(Sanskrit), and the eminent Professor Va Ve Su (Tamil) have also contributed to this ballet.
